New show on Netflix leaves the audience speechless
January 17, 2020
Thrilling, leaves you on the edge of your seat, and leaves you wondering. The new show, “Don’t F**k With Cats” reached Netflix on December 18, 2019. This crime documentary is about a serial killer from Canada and how people on the internet unravel the identification of the mystery killer that posted videos online of him killing. This show is suspenseful and keeps you watching. There are only 3 episodes to the show which makes it a quick show to binge watch.
In the late 2000’s, a man posted a video of him killing a pair of kittens. This outraged a ton of people making them determined to catch the person who killed these kittens. A group of people started a page on FaceBook and they came together to piece together information to find this killer. Each and every piece of information led them closer to the suspect but not close enough to catch him. The suspense is what makes this show worthy of binge watching. The main people of the “chase” were interviewed in the show to make it a documentary. It was a good aspect of the show to see people’s thoughts as the pictures/ events that were happening were being laid out on the screen. It gives the show an even more realistic and modern feel to this event.
One of the best things in this show was the production of it. The camera angles were great. Each shot was taken at a certain angle that was well thought out making the production of this show spectacular. Out of the three episodes, the first episode was the best because it had the most suspense and dramatic scenes. The other two episodes seemed to drag out and seemed unnecessary. The producers could have made this show a long movie rather than 3 episodes. This could have attracted more people to watch the show because people are intimidated when starting a new show because they feel like it will take too much of their time to watch it. On the other hand, if it was a movie someone may watch it and hope to finish it in one sitting. This could make the story more appealing to people.
“I thought it was pretty good but at some points it raised my anxiety to the point where I was uncomfortable and couldn’t watch it,” stated Jocelyn Fafard, senior at Quakertown High School, about the show.
Depending on your sensitivity to certain aspects of death and violence you may want to just find out about the show from a friend or a website. Do some research before you dive into the show.
Overall, if you are 18 and older and are interested in serial killer type of shows/ movies, then this is the show for you. The show does not “show” the videos of the killer killing the cats so it is not a gory show. The fact that the show is a real story is what makes it enthralling. If you do not like anything to do with serial killers then this is not a show for you. All in all, I would watch the show again if I had spare time and I recommend that you watch it too.
