Decorations, pumpkin treats, and horrors everywhere.When thinking of October these are the things that come to mind.Just coming off a season of warm weather and getaways. Travel is not usually the first thing that comes to mind, but the month of October actually is the perfect time for a fall adventure.
Vacation usually calls for beaches or warmth, but what about when we reach sweater weather. There are more places for us to go than we imagine. Whether it be for great spooky themed foods or a chance to see better fall scenery places:Vermont, Philadelphia, Salt lake city, Salem all illuminate the atmosphere travelers look for during this overlooked season of exploration.
Vermont
Fall Season gives an overview of how Vermont brings ,“landscape in a breathtaking tapestry of deep crimson, blaze oranges, and bright yellows every fall” ( Vermont Vacation). October in Vermont with the colder weather and falling leaves is great for those that love to be outdoors. Those that travel to Vermont comment on the scenic drives, farm visit, outdoor art that can be enjoyed while there. If you’re thinking about traveling to the state, seeing the scenery can easily get done by taking byways and backroads throughout the adventure. Farms around the state offer a great atmosphere for a laid back trip viewing and working with the cute little animal and having quick and easy access to fresh produce. Vermont also loves its artists with public art to show off the talents of the states. That is not all the state has to offer though hotel prices and activities will not hurt your pockets if you’re looking for a getaway on a budget. Most things to do in Vermont you can do without spending a penny. So why wouldn’t you go!
Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City Utah has perfect weather for the month. With mid-60s and high 70s. You know what else is perfect about Salt lake: its extremely low prices and mind-blowing scares. Events such as Haunted Tours, Asylum 49, Fear Factory all feed the spirit of halloween.Grimm Ghost Tours gives some of the best haunts of the season with their up close and personal ghost tours. With the history of paranormal investigation the City invested itself in trying to get real life video of ghosts. Looking closer at why you would want to check out Asylum 49 if you want a good scare. It used to be a hospital and now visitors can get their own check up from a headless doctor. One more scare, the fear factory, site of at least 11 documented deaths in which the factory took over the sites in order to make a public investigation. If your traveling for a good scare then Salt Lake City it the way to go.

Salem
Salem in October is like New York during December :Festive, so if you want to go somewhere that looks straight out of Halloween town then this is the place to visit. Haunted Happening, a website for all of Salem’s most popular events, claims it is ,”the largest celebration of Halloween in the world!” (Salem Haunted Happening). What type of events are held? Salem has psychic fairs , magical transformation for the little kids, and themed restaurants for the adults. Places such as Witches City Hibachi have speciality cocktails and food that they commarize off of Halloween and the history of Salem. Why would restaurants do this? Well, Salem’s known for the witch trials in which there were 25 people accused of being witches. Mainly targeting women, the Salem witch trials became a stand out factor in the way people visit Boston.If you are thinking about going to Salem in October thinking ahead is the way to go as it gets pricey and very busy during the season.
