How the Grinch Stole Christmas
The movie, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, was originally a children’s book written by Dr. Suess. The book was released in 1957, and after 43 years, it turned into a movie in 2000. Actor Jim Carrey stars as a green, fluffy, grumpy humanoid called the Grinch. As a young boy, the Grinch was often neglected and forgotten by the others. He lived in isolation for most of his life with his fox terrier, Max. The Grinch hated Christmas because he would always feel excluded from celebrations. In the movie, the Grinch is determined to ruin Christmas for everyone because he dislikes the season himself. However, his dog seems to think the opposite and tries to make the Grinch help people, like Cindy Lou. Cindy Lou is a young girl who changed the Grinch’s perspective on Christmas and helps him treat others with kindness. How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a favorite of many as it leaves people laughing and warmth to many hearts.
The Grinch
Now, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Grinch are two completely different yet similar movies. The Grinch is an animated movie that is much more appealing and colorful to younger children. In this movie, the Grinch lives in his fancy, well-furnished cave with his dog Max, who carries most of the responsibilities like making food, etc. This movie is just as funny as the first one and still implies the same meaningful message. One day, the Grinch goes downtown to go shopping. As he walks through the town, he makes sure to crush any emotions of joy people are feeling around the season of giving. On his visit to who-ville, he stumbled across Cindy-Lou who plays a big part in the story. The Grinch returns to his cave, and days later he comes up with a plan to “steal” Christmas away from others. At night, he makes trips to people’s houses and steals their presents and Christmas trees, however, he crashes into someone. Although this movie is much more different than the original, it is still enjoyable to watch. On December 5, 2024, Cody W. on RottonTomatoes.com, wrote, “Ring in the holiday season with DR. SEUSS’ THE GRINCH, a delightful, funny, and entertaining adaptation of the classic children’s book that will make you smile every time you watch it.”
