March Madness 2022! This story will be updated daily from publication through April 4. It includes a men’s and women’s March Madness bracket. March Madness is an NCAA basketball tournament that includes both men and women colleges teams. This bracket is composed of all of the 136 teams Division I collegiate basketball teams in March Madness (top 68 men’s/top 68 women’s).

The NCAA DI men first played in a March tournament in 1939 with only eight teams. Through the years it has continually added teams:

  • 16 teams (1951)
  • 32 teams (1972)
  • 64 teams (1985)
  • …and the addition of a First Four to take the tourney to 68 teams (2011)

This year is the first season the D1 women have been able to use the term March Madness.
