The anticipated 2022 FIFA World Cup is kicking off in Qatar. Teams all over are eager to take part in the soccer tournament. The first match took place on November 20th with Qatar partaking in a stand-alone match against Ecuador. The outcome of the match resulted in Ecuador winning with two goals (2-0) from striker, and Enner Valencia making history by defeating a host’s game. 

With outstanding matches throughout the tournament. Players are determined to work hard to represent their team. Fans from all over the globe are shouting and sharing their support for their teams. 

Moving down to the semi-finals, it was a match between Croatia and Argentina. Argentina won the game against Croatia 3-0,  two goals from Julian Alvarez and one other from Lionel Messi. Next going in for the Semi-finals is France vs. Morocco. Morocco lost the game to France scoring two goals from players, Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani. The game ended 2-0.  

During the third place play-off, Morocco played a match against Croatia. The first half of the game Croatia scored two goals by players Josko Gvardiola and Mislav Orsic. Achraf Dari scored a goal for Morocco but resulted in Croatia’s win when no one took a goal in the second half.

The World Cup contained many wins and losses, hyping up numerous fans and building excitement for the final game. On Sunday December 18, the last game of the tournament was between Argentina and France. The FIFA World Cup came to an end with Argentina winning after a 3-3 draw. This is Argentina’s third win after winning back in 1978 and 1986.  Long time player Lionel Messi finished off his last and final World Cup with a heartfelt victory for his team. 

As the 2022 FIFA comes to a close the next World Cup will be hosted in North America set for 2026. It will be exciting for Canada as it will be the first time hosting an event like this. Other countries like the United States and Mexico will host the next tournament.
