The Quakertown Baseball team comes into the 2023 season fresh off of a playoff season in 2022. Their season begins with their 7th annual weekend trip to Myrtle Beach. They play 2 scrimmages (varsity and JV) and 2 intersquad games, along with team practices. This year’s team went 1-1 in their exhibition scrimmages. The 12-hour trip gives the team time to improve their bond and build chemistry. In the 2 years prior to their trips at Myrtle Beach, the team went a combined 10-27 in 2014 and 2015. Since their annual trips started in 2016, they have gone 72-48-1. Senior outfielder Brayden Schuler said, “The trip was a great time to bond with my teammates”

Aside from their weekend at Myrtle Beach, the team has yet to practice on a baseball field this season. It seems that the team will not get on a baseball field (other than away games) for another 2 weeks. The team will have to practice and play on an alternate field this season. Their usual field (Memorial Park) is undergoing maintenance. The team will be playing at the Connie Mack in Quakertown field this season. Many teams in the area such as Perk Valley and Plymouth Whitemarsh have been playing for the last 6 weeks as they have a turf field.

Quakertown School District is looking to put up a multi-purpose turf field that the baseball team and other schools will use in the future. The school board has already dropped $300,000 on the design and site testing. The board approved the spending in a 9-1 vote and unanimously approved the preliminary construction steps shortly after.

Quakertown played a scrimmage on Monday, March 20th at Pennridge, they won 10-0 off a great performance by pitchers Vinny Pellegrini and Cooper Natisin. Nate Scheetz hit a home run, and multiple players had multi-hit games as they cruised to the win. The team was set to scrimmage Perk Prep on Friday, March 24th, however, the game was canceled due to rain. It is looking to be rescheduled.

The Panthers open their season with a home game against Plymouth Whitemarsh on Saturday, April 1st at 12:00. It will be a battle of 2 playoff teams from 2022. Plymouth Whitemarsh (15-6) beat Quakertown (11-8) twice last year. Senior day for the Panthers is on April 28th against CB West at 4 pm at the Connie Mack fields. Their final contest will be on May 17th in Abington.
