With recent notice, many fans of Selena Gomez have been connecting the dots between Hailey Bieber and Selena’s unique “friendship.” But, if you live under a rock, you may not know that Hailey is the wife of Selena’s ex-boyfriend Justin Beiber. That title alone of being his wife, you would think, would give Hailey the confidence to leave any past jealousy towards Selena behind her and take the high road – but that is not the case.

Tiktok, a viral social media app, has been blowing up recently with the scandals between Hailey and Selena. Hailey’s online bullying towards Selena may come across as classic celebrity drama that teens live for, but even other celebrities have gotten into the heat. Hailey’s friends Kylie and Kendall Jenner also mocked Gomez over a recent post about her eyebrows. This could come across as mean girls being mean girls. But at this point, is it jealousy turned obsession? Hailey has become so focused on Selena that she seems similar to a well-known stalker in the Netflix series YOU. 

In the series YOU, Joe Goldberg, a loner bookstore manager, falls in love with a girl named Guinevere Beck. Joe becomes so infatuated with her and her life that the stalks her on social media apps kills the man she was with and her best friend, breaks into her apartment, and does countless other creepy, sadistic actions. Oh, spoiler alert, he killed Guinevere too. Now I won’t say that Hailey will go around killing people, . Still, the TikTok “investigators” have been pulling up videos of Hailey displaying her copying Selena on the smallest of things. Both celebrities had cooking shows, with Selena coming out with her show in 2020, while Hailey started hers in 2022. Watchers of both shows noticed Hailey copying Selena by stating almost word-for-word sentences. Could this be coming across as “fan behavior” or straight-up creepy? Joe would copy his victims and follow their life. Becoming the upmost famous television stalker. 

Recently, Selena shared a post on her instagram story stating, “Hailey Beiver reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.” Though Hailey was seen doing numerous hurtful things toward Selena, Selena still took the high road and tells her fans to stop. Though Hailey may not be a sadistic-obsessed killer, she sure wishes she was Selena and wants people to know “her heart.”
