September is already kicking off with a thrilling start. The long-awaited Disney Expo, also known as D23 has returned! Their bi-annual expo is located in Anaheim Convention Center, California. Companies like Marvel, Lucasfilms, and networks like Disney Plus all shared long-awaited news from their panel. Following a ton of new announcements, we are set for years worth of upcoming content. 

 

Of all the years Disney has never failed to tell the most beautiful and mind-catching stories. What are the new names coming out? We’re getting: Inside Out 2 (Summer 2024), Elemental (June 16), Elio (Spring 2024), and Strange World (November 23). A new Disney heroine will be coming on the scenes as well. Wish, coming Fall 2023 will center around 17 year old Asha who lives in the Kingdom of Wishes, Rosas. It’s not a second movie but Zootopia will be getting an animated TV show airing on November 9. Are you a fan of Rick Riordan’s famous book series Percy Jackson? Fans all over are raving about the upcoming TV show titled Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Every season will focus on a novel from the series starting with The Lighting Thief. Casting has already started filming. It’s scheduled to be released sometime in 2024. 

 

Star Wars has been around since 1977 with the release of Star War: A New Hope created by George Lucas. Since then the franchise has been booming with many books, comics, shows, and movies. It was announced on September 10th that The Mandalorian will be back for season 3 in 2023. Dave Filoni, the creator of the animated series Star War: The Bad Batch, shared that it will return with its second season coming January 4, 2023. Also coming October, 26 Filoni shared the upcoming six-episode animated short titled Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. The episodes will feature the lives of Ahsoka Tano and Count Dooku before and after the catastrophe of Order 66.

Marvel Studios has been releasing superhero live-action films since the first Iron Man movie released in 2008. Lately, there has been an increase in television shows like WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, and a bunch more. During Marvel’s Panel on September 10, came more updates on new releases. Next Summer we will be receiving Loki season 2, along with the Echo series starring Alaqua Cox (mid-2023). Marvel also revealed a Halloween special titled Werewolf by Night for October 7, Secret Invasion with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury sometime in 2023.Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set to release on

November 11, 2022. The story will follow the Wakandans striving to protect their nation from Atlantis invading their home. Namor the Sub-Mariner has set his goal for Wakanda after T’Challa reveals his people, putting them in danger. 

 

 Back on June 8 of 2022,  Iam Vellani hit the screens as Kamala Khan in Marvel’s show Mrs. Marvel. At the end of Ms. Marvel, Carol Danvers strangely switched places with Kamala. Kamala is now on an unfamiliar alien ship leaving Captain Marvel in Kamala’s bedroom. Setting up for the next movie introducing The Marvels coming July 28, 2023. The film will include Iam Vellani as Mrs. Marvel, Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, and Teyonah Parris who made her first appearance on WandaVision will be continuing her role as Monica Rambeau. Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) who took on a new role as Captain America from the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, will be returning for his first solo movie in Captain America: New World Order airing May 3, 2024. 

 

 On July 26, 2024, Marvel Studios will be releasing Thunderbolts. What are the Thunderbolts? From the comic book creators Kurt Busiek and Mark Bagley the Thunderbolts are a team of antiheroes. They are recruited by the government to try to atone and repay their debt to society. Who’s starring in this upcoming movie? Kevin Feige revealed who will be a part of this team. The return of the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and finally Contessa (Julia Louis-Dreyfuss ) who had put this team together. 

 

Yet again Disney’s D23 Expo hit the nail with this one. With all these new and exciting titles coming to the big screens. It’s all going to be fun and exciting.
